There is a place beyond the stars
where the universe ends.
Graphs of functions reach their limit,
and time and space no longer bend.
Inchoate slaves prostrate at the feet
of a sadistic pedagogue.
Willing sheep to be bent to any purpose,
and vile morality.
The vestiges of selfish identity are abolished
upon the pyres of omega.
Mindless celestial zombies are the chosen,
and killing of the innocent can be rewarded.
It is here in the lifeless fields of luminosity
that reason dare not tread.
The breeder of dissidence must be scorned,
and this will give life to the obedient dead.

The Noise
Mommy emptied out the closet,
and she looked under the bed.
The noise she thought she heard,
was perhaps in her head.
No, there it was again.
It came from over there.
She is really going crazy now,
and pulling at her hair.
Did it stop,
or simply go away?
There is a kitty in my backpack.
It followed me home today.
and she looked under the bed.
The noise she thought she heard,
was perhaps in her head.
No, there it was again.
It came from over there.
She is really going crazy now,
and pulling at her hair.
Did it stop,
or simply go away?
There is a kitty in my backpack.
It followed me home today.

Confusion

EVOLUTION,what was your first thought? Was it change in gene frequency, that annoying t-shirt, Lucy, the fossil record, Darwin fish, micro, macro, Neutral theory, HMS Beagle, pigeons, or was it simply a negative thought? Did you grasp your crucifix as if a vampire had walked into the room? Did you say a silent prayer for the faithless evolutionist? The word, evolution, conjures up many images and thoughts. How can something so simple cause so much confusion?
The problem lies in the age at which evolution is studied in depth by American children. Yes, most of us had an idea that we were related to chimps and gorillas, but the mechanics of evolution were a mystery. The reality of animal phylogeny had to be taken on something akin to faith, and this led to confusion because some of us pictured an ape transforming into a human. This is a common mistake, and by no means is it the only one made due to a lack of early education in evolution.
I started learning about evolution in college. College, this can't be right! Well it is. Many people never learn much about evolution until college, and for those that don't choose biology as a career, they may never learn any of the intricacies of evolutionary biology.
Wife
The one who keeps me straight,
and somewhat down to earth.
The one who stays by my side,
and gave my daughter birth.
The organizer,
The lover,
The partner,
The best friend,
and sometimes my fiercest critic.
My wife is many things.
I can not name them all.
I can write about them,
but somehow that seems too small.
Today,
Yesterday,
Tomorrow,
and infinity.
and somewhat down to earth.
The one who stays by my side,
and gave my daughter birth.
The organizer,
The lover,
The partner,
The best friend,
and sometimes my fiercest critic.
My wife is many things.
I can not name them all.
I can write about them,
but somehow that seems too small.
Today,
Yesterday,
Tomorrow,
and infinity.
Self

Plenty of people hate something about themselves. Me, I was always jealous of people with straight hair. It was so easy to manage. I, on the other hand, had a clown wig for hair, and there was nothing easy about it. In the 80's and early 90's I used enough hairspray to destroy the ozone layer solo, but as I have aged, I learned that somethings just are not important. My hair is one of them. This focus on self is detrimental to all of us. Self rips apart tribes, destroys nations, and grinds peasants into the gears of despotic dictatorships. The idea of self, is a bane on humanity, and is probably here to stay.
